How to Care for Your Persian's Eyes and Face
Eyes should be kept clean, dry, and free of any debris at all times.
If you notice your kitties eyes are tearing, or there is a buildup of debris at the inner corner of the eye, it is time to clean your feline’s face. Ideally this should be done every few days to avoid infection. Please note, some Persians tear more than others and frequent cleaning may not be necessary.
1. Place your Persian either on your lap, counter, or table- whichever is easiest.
2. Dampen the corner of your washcloth with warm tap water.
3. Gently wipe the eyes, start from the inner corner outward. Be sure to use a clean corner of the washcloth, as it gets dirty. You don’t want to reintroduce bacteria back onto the eyes. For stubborn crusty buildup you may use a children’s toothbrush to gently scrub the area.
4. Once clean use the dry washcloth to gently pat the area dry.
While you are cleaning the eyes, it is also a good idea to clean the rest of the face as well.
*For tough stains we use and recommend and eye cleaning solution in addition to warm water. Our favorite is Eye Envy, specially formulated to clean unsightly stains*
